Court to arraign Kano state ex-Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, wife, & son on 17th April

A Kano State High Court has scheduled the arraignment of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, his wife Hafsat Ganduje, their son Umar Abdullahi Umar, and five other individuals for alleged bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds amounting to billions of naira.

The defendants will face an eight-count charge in relation to accusations of bribery in dollars, as well as other financial irregularities. The case is set for April 17, 2024, before Justice Usman Malam Na'aba of the State High Court.

It should be noted that the Kano State government has recently filed a fresh charge against the former governor, his wife, and six other people. Abubakar Bawuro, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Ltd, Safari Textiles Ltd, and Lesage General Enterprises are among the new defendants in the case.

The Kano State government has also disclosed that it has assembled 15 witnesses to testify against the defendants in the case. The defendants will face charges of bribery, diversion, and misappropriation of funds amounting to N1.38bn, in addition to allegations of bribery in the amount of $413,000.
