The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) conducted airstrikes as part of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), resulting in the destruction of terrorists hideouts and the elimination of numerous criminals in the Tumbuns near Lake Chad.
In a statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, disclosed that the airstrikes were carried out on March 24, 2024, at a location Northwest of Arina Woje in the Tumbuns. The decision to authorize the airstrike was based on intelligence indicating the presence of terrorist's hideouts at the specified location. Intelligence reports confirmed heightened terrorist activities in the vicinity of concealed structures located near the area.
Following the strikes, an assessment conducted after the battle revealed that numerous terrorists were eliminated and their hideouts destroyed, resulting in a significant reduction of their capacity to engage with surface forces under attack.
The strikes have weakened the ability of terrorist groups in the area to launch attacks against civilians residing near Arina Woje in Borno State, as stated by the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and Rapid Intervention (DOPRI).
