During a Ramadan fast-breaking event in Makurdi, Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, announced that his administration is committed to undertaking developmental projects that would improve the state's standing among other states in Nigeria. Governor Alia stated that Benue is the least developed state among the 19 northern states in Nigeria.
He also mentioned that his efforts towards development have been met with opposition from detractors who have voiced their disapproval of his plans to construct roads, build schools, pay salaries, and provide street lights. However, Governor Alia has remained resolute in his determination to improve the state's infrastructure and the living conditions of its citizens.
In his address, Governor Alia encouraged the younger generation to engage in farming activities. He invited them to join cooperatives, assuring them of the state government's support by providing the necessary capital to embark on such ventures.
The Chief Imam of Benue, Malam Umar Garba, blessed Governor Alia and the people of Benue, stating that a society that God intends to bless is often blessed with a God-fearing leader. The Chief Imam expressed his confidence in Governor Alia's leadership and stated that his appointment as governor was not a mistake.
