The Governing Council of Al-Muhibbah Open University, Abuja, has granted approval for the appointment of Professor Ahmad Salisu Garba as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University. This appointment follows the demise of the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhtar Hanif Alhassan, who passed away after a long-standing illness in Egypt.
The Registrar of the University, Barrister Muslim Maigari, conveyed Garba's appointment through a letter dated March 25, 2023. The letter stated that the University's Chancellor, Her Excellency Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed, FNCS, Sarauniyar Bauchi, and the First Lady of Bauchi State, had given her approval for Garba's appointment as the Acting Vice Chancellor of Al-Muhibbah Open University, effective from Monday, 25th March 2024.
The letter noted that Garba was selected for the role due to his exemplary service to the academic community, his leadership capabilities, and his unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the University. The Chancellor, along with the University's Governing Council, has recognized these qualities and entrusted Garba with the leadership and administrative oversight of the University.
Garba, who holds the position of Associate Professor of Public Law (Law & Religion) until his appointment, previously served as the Director of Academic Planning at the University and the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, at Bauchi State University.
