Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, popularly known as Do2tun, a media personality, has stated that a significant number of Nigerians did not believe that Nigerian-British boxer, Anthony Joshua, would defeat former Franco-Cameroonian UFC star, Francis Ngannou, in their boxing bout on Friday. Joshua claimed victory over Ngannou by knocking him out in the second round of the bout held in Saudi Arabia.
Notably, Nigerians celebrated Joshua's win over Ngannou on social media, and the Federal Government also conveyed its congratulations to him via social media. However, Do2tun, reacting via his X handle, claimed that most Nigerians did not support Joshua initially, but he did.
He further asserted that boxing is a technical sport, and just because Francis knocked out Fury, who he thinks has not fought a good contender, does not mean he could beat Anthony. He called for a better approach to supporting Nigerian athletes and their endeavors.
In his Instagram post, Do2tun opined that Anthony Joshua was right not to mention Nigeria in his victory speech, where he acknowledged Britain, Cameroon, and Saudi Arabia.
The media personality wrote that success has a lot of family members, and failure is an orphan, adding that he would rather choose one with his full chest. He questioned whether Nigerians truly deserved to be recognized, as many had even bet against Joshua, demonstrating the Nigerian mentality of putting on a show.
