The All Progressives Congress, a ruling political party in Nigeria, has issued a directive to its members and proxies in Benue State to withdraw their cases from court or face disciplinary action.
This warning follows a leadership crisis in the state, which has led to a cold war between the state governor, Hyacinth Alia, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, resulting in a split within the party.
In response to this feud, the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, released a statement on Thursday, announcing the resolution of the National Working Committee at its 146th meeting held on March 20th, 2024.
The resolution mandates that all ongoing cases related to the party and its members be discontinued and withdrawn from courts within seven days. Failure to comply with this resolution will result in disciplinary action, including immediate suspension and expulsion from the party.
The statement emphasizes the importance of adhering to this directive, as the unity and integrity of the APC must be upheld, and resolving legal matters internally is crucial to maintaining the cohesion and focus of the party.
